I feel that technology and modernization have also opened new possibilities for improvement around the world. It is interesting how women's role has changed in society from generation to generation.

For example, I have managed to graduate from college and accomplished things my mother was not able to do in her generation. My mother was very unfortunate, she only completed the third grade because her parents insisted that she did not need an education and that she should instead get a job. Sojourner Truth — used a similar rhetoric in her "Ain't I a Woman" speech given in to the Women's Convention in Akron, Ohio: "That man over there says that women need to be helped into carriages, and lifted over ditches, and to have the best place everywhere.

Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud-puddles, or gives me any best place! And ain't I a woman? Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me! I could work as much and eat as much as a man - when I could get it - and bear the lash as well! I have borne thirteen children, and seen most all sold off to slavery, and when I cried out with my mother's grief, none but Jesus heard me! The persuasive technique of pathos relates to the emotional, or sympathetic appeal. Speakers and writers use pathos to garner sympathy from an audience. In addition, successful writers engenders the target emotions from the audience, be it pity, anger, or regret.
