With the advancement to agriculture humans not only had a more efficient food supply but they also had more advanced tools to help them with work. Another example is that humans domesticated livestock. The domestication of livestock made work a lot easier to be done, such as plowing fields, moving large amount of seed or transporting crops from one place to another.

Furthermore, humans gained housing. With the conversion to agriculture humans built settlements during the Neolithic Age. Humans were able to live in houses rather than traveling to different places. Many things were lost and gained with the switch to the new age. Humans switched from a nomadic lifestyle to a settled lifestyle. This switch made a better lifestyle for humans with the surplus of food and advancement in technology of the New Stone Age. The agricultural way of life made things easier for humans rather than the hunter-gatherer way of life.

The Medieval time worldview was limited to their small farm and what they saw in front of them. The people were illiterate, uneducated, and only gained their information from one source, the Roman Catholic Church. As time went on, new and more efficient farming methods were introduced allowing fewer people to farm. Usually this kind of believing causes hierarchy, because different jobs are not equally appreciated. For example, priests were part of upper class, which got more free time and a bigger variety of foods. In hunter-gatherer societies people were animistic, which means that they did not have any gods.

However, there are some similarities between these societies. In both, hunting-gathering and farming, societies people had families. Even though, imperialism did benefit some countries economically, but it overshadows cultural traditions and the economy in others. This affected the Indian peasants who now had to grow cash crops, instead of their own food. This act destroyed the old village economy and worsened. Migration to England increased during the Early Middle Ages. The Europeans came in large groups to England. There were agricultural labourers such as skilled cloth weavers, and merchants involved in international trade. Although the New England colonies and Middle colonies have the same social beliefs, they do not tolerate those who have a different faith other than the Puritan lifestyle.

The Middle colonies believed in more of a diverse culture with multiple religions, cultures, languages, etc. The New England colonies were more of an industrial type of economy because most of their land was infertile. The Middle colonies mostly just relied on farmers, craftsmen, and merchants. The differences in the economy in the three different regions of the thirteen colonies were determined by both the people who went there and the environment. The environment limited how the economy was based because an agricultural economy needs good ground for growing, so without good soil, the economy would have to be based on industry. In the New England colonies Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island , the economy was dependent on their industries, not their agriculture.

The Southern Colonies Maryland, N. The wild progenitors of crops including wheat , barley and peas are traced to the Near East region. Cereals were grown in Syria as long as 9, years ago, while figs were cultivated even earlier; prehistoric seedless fruits discovered in the Jordan Valley suggest fig trees were being planted some 11, years ago. The world's oldest known rice paddy fields, discovered in eastern China in , reveal evidence of ancient cultivation techniques such as flood and fire control.

In Mexico, squash cultivation began around 10, years ago, but corn maize had to wait for natural genetic mutations to be selected for in its wild ancestor, teosinte. While maize-like plants derived from teosinte appear to have been cultivated at least 9, years ago, the first directly dated corn cob dates only to around 5, years ago. Corn later reached North America, where cultivated sunflowers also started to bloom some 5, years ago. This is also when potato growing in the Andes region of South America began. Cattle, goats, sheep and pigs all have their origins as farmed animals in the so-called Fertile Crescent , a region covering eastern Turkey, Iraq and southwestern Iran.

This region kick-started the Neolithic Revolution. Dates for the domestication of these animals range from between 13, to 10, years ago. Genetic studies show that goats and other livestock accompanied the westward spread of agriculture into Europe, helping to revolutionize Stone Age society. While the extent to which farmers themselves migrated west remains a subject of debate, the dramatic impact of dairy farming on Europeans is clearly stamped in their DNA. Prior to the arrival of domestic cattle in Europe, prehistoric populations weren't able to stomach raw cow milk. But at some point during the spread of farming into southeastern Europe, a mutation occurred for lactose tolerance that increased in frequency through natural selection thanks to the nourishing benefits of milk.

Judging from the prevalence of the milk-drinking gene in Europeans today — as high as 90 percent in populations of northern countries such as Sweden — the vast majority are descended from cow herders.
